Sapper

The SAPPER product integrates the SAP R/3 information system with the Lotus Notes system in such a way that a user who has no direct access to the SAP R/3 system (does not own a license) can use SAP R/3 logic in Lotus Notes applications (receive and log data, use functions and tables).

The integration principle lies in the building of a SAPPER module into any application on the Lotus Notes platform. The LN platform can solve specific workflow, e.g., the processing of a request for an order, with the data for building the request is drawn with the help of the SAPPER module from the SAP R/3 system (cost centers, materials, etc.). After the request is approved in LN it is transferred with the help of SAPPER for processing (implementation) to SAP R/3, where it is disposed of (ordered). The LN user can then monitor the progress of the order in his application.

Model applications with the SAPPER module:

  • Requests for orders
The application for implementing a request for an order in the LN system serves for entering, recording, and approving a request in the set workflow. The approved request then goes into the SAP system, where it is implemented. On the LN side the user still has detailed information on the status of the request, including its ordering and disposal.
  • Maintenance orders
Managing and planning maintenance in the LN environment. For planning, the LN environment is integrated with MS Office (Excel). Maintenance orders are then integrated in both directions to the PM SAP R/3 module. The application supports the planning of maintenance capacities.
  • Mail connection
Inegration of the LN and SAP R/3 mail systems.
  • Spare parts
An application for determining the availability of spare parts from an LN client in the SAP R/3 system.

Integration into IXOS:

An application that allows, within the framework of the approval workflow on the LN platform,  examination of associated documents stored in the IXOS system, which is connected to the SAP R/3 system.

The Sapper product allows the connection of multiple users to an integrated information system, mainly of clients at the lowest levels of the organizational structure. The informational reach of data is this substantially broadened. Because multiple users access the SAP R/3 functions from other environments (applications), Sapper achieves truly effective use of backbone system licenses, and thereby substantially lower costs.

Main benefits of the product:

  • Decreased overall costs on the system through the use of clients’ LN.
  • Possibility of integration into existing applications of the customer.
  • Support of mobile users.
  • Work in both on-line and off-line regimes.
  • Simple and intuitive user interface.
  • Substantial expansion of the user base.

Our offer of the product:

  • a variant allowing access to R/3 logic from applications of a Lotus Notes groupware system
  • a variant that provides access to R/3 with the help of a Web search engine through the Lotus Domino server
