The Hermes solution, a company integrated document management system, is conceived as a modular solution based on a common System Core (Jasys), a central electronic Archive, and an Integration Layer.
The solution was developed as open, which allows its further refinement.
The System Core contains code-book that is necessary for the system’s functioning:
- The Internal Directory is anchored in the organizational structure, and ensures and supports document workflow.
- The Data Dictionary centralizes the system’s parameters.
- The External Directory contains a list of subjects with which the organization is in contact.
- Numerical lines ensure the management of numbering within the system.
The Central Archive ensures central storage and management of electronic documents, including making them accessible to surrounding systems with which it communicates through the services interface.
The Integration Layer enables both the connection of the system to surrounding information systems and the realization of specific tasks for the given system settings.
The Hermes system can be set up on the Lotus Notes or Java platforms in conjunction with a selectable relational database: IBM Informix, MS SQL, Open-source PostgreSQL, and Open-source MySQL.

- Modularity – a key characteristic is the building of a system for individual modules, based on the customer’s needs and requirements.
- Central administration – all of the company’s documents are stored in a common electronic archive and are designated for sharing with relevant sectors, divisions, and individuals (groups.
- Effectiveness – the system seeks out a requested document any time and anywhere, and ensures clearly laid out records and flows of documents.
- Security – sensitive data of the organization are protected against theft, modification, and other misuses.
- Continuity – documents are stored including their mutual ties and context, so at any time it is possible to seek out their paper originals, images of documents, obtained data, associated documents, and their histories.
- Elimination of errors – activities such as manual typing, repeated searches, and other physical activities fall away, whereby the system overcomes possible errors by workers.
